AUDITIONS!

JOIN US NEXT SEASON!

Auditions for the next season membership will be held in late August and early January.

(Section Leader auditions are held in early June.)

To schedule an audition, please call 847-214-7225.

Elgin Choral Union is a 120-voice adult community choir singing to professional standards.  Our diverse membership of 110 volunteers and 8 professionally trained section leaders comes from over 30 communities and ranges in age from 17-80!  In residence at Elgin Community College, we perform three public subscription concerts at the Visual Performing Arts Center's Blizzard Theatre, are hired by other organizations such as Elgin Symphony Orchestra and also participate in numerous free community events.

We are asking everyone to sing a segment from Mendelssohn’s St. Paul oratorio (available by clicking here) : http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/images/sheet/mendelss/mend-how.pdf;

altos: m.1 to m. 11; basses: m. 11 to m. 20; tenors: m. 30 to m. 40; sopranos: m. 33 to m. 40

In addition, Andrew Lewis, Music Director, will assess your sight-reading skills, musicality and intonation. We structure the audition to be as stress-free as possible; the entire audition will take about 10 minutes.

As an in-residence organization of Elgin Community College, the class meets weekly on Tuesdays from 7-9:30 p.m.  Annual membership is $250 ($125. per semester, includes credit/non-credit tuition and music).  Limited scholarships may be available based on need.
